This is the official blog of ex-Sgt Ellie Bloggs. I was a real live police constable then sergeant for twelve years, on the real live front line of England. I'm now a real live non-police person. All the facts I recount are true, and are not secrets. If they don't want me blogging about it, they shouldn't do it. PS If you don't pay tax, you don't (or didn't) pay my salary.

I'd sooner be a Paki than a Jock.

Would you rather live in a affluent middle class home with your father, brothers and sisters in warm sunny Lahore.

or

A semi-detached council house in the cold and wet western isles with your mother, her live in boyfriend and a few bottles of supemarket wine?

Your call.

Anon, (and why the shyness?)

I'm a 'Jock', but the JUDGE was from Pakistan. He knew where she was best off! Aye, we could do with some more sun in Jockland, but when we get it, the Highlands and Islands are, as we say round here, "God's own country."

Well, I think the pakistani judge has it right. Get her dragged back to her mother in "....A semi-detached council house in the cold and wet western isles ...with [mum's] live in boyfriend and a few bottles of supemarket wine?"...then the court appearances start. A Judge knowing the publicity will ask the girl (Molly not molly) her wishes. She will say take me back to "...[my] affluent middle class home with [my] father, brothers and sisters in warm sunny Lahore".....hopefully the mother will have turned into a deranged lunatic, her daughter clearly intelligent and ssensible and ablr to make decisions about her life, and she will end up back where she clearly wants to be.

Mind you, the Father should have done this via the courts in the first place. The agreement between the UK and Pakistan exists for sensible and proper reasons

as is too often the case, this was all about the parents wanting whats best for themselves, and not thinking too much about anyone else, least of all the god-forsaken kids

ESC. It's because of "diversity courses" that has turned me into a cynic. Incidentally I wasn't aware that "Jock" was offensive.

But if you are saying Paki is? have a look at this website and see who it's aimied and where it's based.

Anon,
I think you should have paid attention in your diversity inputs. It is not offensive to say Paki or Jock, it is RACIST if perceived as so. That is why we must tread carefully in what we say. Incidentally, most Scots are not particularly happy to be called Jocks when it is accompanied by veiled (yikes) derogatory comments about our country. It is the throwaway nature of such stereotypical comments about our nation that gives us the perceived chip on our shoulders! Anyway in Scotland Molly can go where she likes at 16.

To be fair,
If my kid was that ugly I'd make her wear a veil too

Why is Louise Campell about talking about her other kids that she has for Mr Rana? I feel that there is an underlying tone to all this. Lets seperate the fact that Molly or Misbah is a muslim. There was something going on in her mother's home that wasnt right and that was what made her run away!! Why isnt anyone 'lifting the veil' and looking behind it? There is something that mother isnt doing right that made her daughter run away and the others dont even want to go there at all.

I agree that we have reached the Kafkaesque position that McPherson wanted. But it is nine years since he made his ridiculous pronouncement and it's long overdue to be challenged, and indeed rid, and replaced with something a lot more intelligent and realistic.

Incidentally an article in the Times 12th November 2006 revealed that figures from the British Crime Survey showed the that the white population is the most discriminated against racially, and that a survey of newspapers showed that there has been deliberate under reporting of Black/Asian racism against whites.

The MacPherson definition of a racist incident was ludicrous. Any incident perceived as being racist etc . So unlike everything else we deal with where we look for evidence it is just perceptions.
So if I stop 10 cars during a shift. Of which 1 car has a driver of different ethnic origin - it is then a racist incident if he or she perceives it as that.
Someone might perceive that 2 and 2 equal 5 but perception does not change reality.
A racist incident should need some form of evidence of either the words or actions of the person involved or another evidence based factor.
